About
Eunoia, who is a grumpy, overeducated, facetious, multilingual naturalised German,
blatantly opinionated, old (1944-vintage), amateur cryptologist,
computer consultant, atheist, flying instructor, bulldog-lover, Porsche-driver,
textbook-writer and blogger living
in the foothills south of the northern German plains. Not too shy to
reveal his true name or even whereabouts, he blogs his opinions, and
humour and rants irregularly.
Stubbornly he clings to his beliefs,
e.g. that Faith does not give answers, it only prevents you doing any goddamn questioning.
You are as atheist as he is. When you understand why you don't believe in all the other gods,
you will know why he does not believe in yours.
Oh, and after the death of his old bulldog, Kosmo, he also has a new bulldog, Clara, since September 2018 :-)

Meteorite seen
Sunday, about ten to six local time I saw my first meteorite :-)
Low on the horizon but still high in the stratosphere it streaked from SW northwards before the fireball airburst.
Small bits came down from Koblenz (S of me) to the Eifel (W of me) I read in this morning's paper.
A guy in Koblenz got a football sized hole in his roof, so small bits made landfall; implies it must have been about a yard across when in space.
Noone has been reported hurt, so that is good.

I saw one like that when I was around 10 years old. It was right above my head when it did the big flash and disappeared. I believed in UFOs for years after that." Haha.
Jenny (Ibiza) asked "What did you think it was when you saw it?" First thought it was an Iranian ballistic missile aimed at the American military airfield at Rammstein (Germany).
Then I rejected that since the tail was not pointed easterly enough and the boost phase would have been over.
Second thought was that it was space junk on an uncontrolled reentry from a polar orbit, but the de-orbiting is usually done over the Pacific to avoid landfall.
Only my 3rd thought was that it was an asteroid hitting Earth.
Peter (UK) wrote "
I saw my first last year… it was so bright . sorry you were struck by wtf covid…" Better than by a meteorite ;-)

I have been ill :-(
For most of february actually. Superflu or Covid? Or as Mike
has blogged about: Adenovirus.
I was bedridden for a fortnight then housebound for another week. The doc who does house visits came twice; she took a blood sample but just gave me Tilidin to decrease the pain.
I shut myself away in the cellar so that SWMBO and the dog did not get infected. Both were spared.
Never had a flu as bad as this. But am recovering now, weak but improving.
It has swept though our valley affecting about 12% of the households.
Blogging will resume gradually as I get better; thankyou for your emails everyone.

Your to old to be that sick! Stay in the basement until your 110%!" Thanks for those words Mike. BTW, it is you're not your.
Jenny wrote "Get well soon again." Trying, and thanks.

This blog is getting really unmanagable, so I've taken the first 13 years' archives offline.
My blog, my random decision. Tough shit; YOLO.

This Blog's Status is
Blog Dewey Decimal Classification : 153
FWIW, 153 is a triangular number, meaning that you can arrange 153 items into an equilateral triangle (with 17 items on a side).
It is also one of the six known truncated triangular numbers, because 1 and 15 are triangular numbers as well.
It is a hexagonal number, meaning that you can distribute 153 points evenly at the corners and along the sides of a hexagon.
It is the smallest 3-narcissistic number. This means it's the sum of the cubes of its digits.
It is the sum of the first five positive factorials. Yup, this is a 153-type blog. QED ;-)
